Exit rules as amended by PFRDA in December 2025: non-government subscribers can take up to 80% as a lump sum, government employees 60%, and a corpus up to ₹8 lakh can be withdrawn in full. 60% of the corpus is tax-free; check the tax treatment of anything above that with a tax adviser. The pension (annuity) is taxed at your slab.

Indian guidelines use lower cut-offs because Asian Indians tend to carry more body fat, and face higher diabetes and heart risk, at the same BMI. BMI doesn't distinguish muscle from fat; waist size adds useful information.

Uses the Mifflin–St Jeor equation and about 7,700 kcal per kg of body fat. Estimates only; needs vary. Talk to a doctor or dietitian before large changes, especially if you are pregnant, diabetic or under 18.
Calories in Indian food
Calories are typical estimates per serving and vary a lot with recipe, oil, ghee and portion size: one dosa can be anywhere from about 100 to 170 kcal. Edit any number to match your food. A katori is a small bowl of about 150 ml.

These older formulas were designed for medication dosing and give a single number. A healthy BMI range is a better guide.
Body fat ranges
US Navy tape-measure method: usually within a few percent of a DEXA scan. Measure in the morning with a soft tape, without pulling it tight.
A rough guide covering all fluids, including tea, milk, dal and fruit. Pale yellow urine is a good sign you're drinking enough. People with kidney or heart conditions should follow their doctor's advice instead.

Ovulation is estimated at 14 days before the next period. It varies from cycle to cycle, especially with irregular cycles or PCOS, so don't rely on this for contraception. Ovulation kits or your gynaecologist can confirm it.

EPF withdrawals after 5 years of continuous service are tax-free. Interest on your own contributions above ₹2.5 lakh a year is taxable. The EPS pension formula is pensionable salary (capped at ₹15,000) × years of service ÷ 70, from 58 with at least 10 years.
